The UTK / Knox County Academic Health Department is the featured cover story in The Nation’s Health.
The article, titled “Academic health department partnerships boost training: Joining with schools benefits students”, appears in the August 2018 edition of the newspaper, which is published and distributed nationally by the American Public Health Association (APHA).
Our academic health department was the first of its kind in Tennessee. It serves the purpose of bridging public health academia and practice to improve public health. Since the formation of this partnership in 2011, interest in forming other academic health departments has spread nationwide, with many using our program as a reference model.
