The East Tennessee Forum on Public Health and Preventive Medicine (the “Forum”) was established in 1995 by the senior leadership representing the University of Tennessee MPH-associated faculty (including Public Health Nutrition); the Department of Family Medicine, University of Tennessee Medical Center; the Knox County Health Department; and, the East Tennessee Regional Health Office. The stated purposes for establishing the Forum included:
- To facilitate closer working relationships – communications, collaborations and networking – between academia and public health and preventive medicine practitioners;
- To bring a local focus to public health and preventive medicine issues of state and national concern;
- To nurture leadership potential for those in the mid stages of their careers.
