Public Health was well represented at the UTK-CEHHS Graduate Student Colloquium.
The field of public health attracts people from a wide variety of backgrounds with even wider fields of interests. The topics our students presented on during the colloquium perfectly illustrate the eclectic research interests of individuals in our programs.
The event took place on April 2, 2024 and was attended by nearly 200 people.

The Associations between the Multidimensional Deprivation Index and Pre-Dialysis Nephrology Care and Mortality on Dialysis Among People with End-Stage Kidney Disease
Ellen’s research seeks to explore the associations between the Multidimensional Deprivation Index, access to nephrology care prior to dialysis, and mortality on dialysis in the southern US among people with end-stage kidney disease. The results of this study may serve as a call to action for tailored interventions, including community education initiatives to promote early intervention, extension of telehealth services to reach underserved populations, and efforts to expand health insurance coverage
